Emergency Calling Service
Have you been following the news lately on VoIP phone service and Emergency Calling Service? The FCC has announced a ruling providing guidelines for VoIP phone service providers to follow for the Emergency Calling Service (dialing 911 for help) that will help protect our customers in case of an emergency. Don’t be alarmed, this is good news for you and for the industry. Lingo is reviewing the order and will work diligently with our Emergency Calling Service partner to comply with the FCC ruling!

GREAT NEWS! When you signed up for Lingo, we automatically enrolled you in our Emergency Calling Service! We provided information about this service when you went through the order process, so hopefully you understand what our Emergency Calling Service is and any differences between it and E911 or 911 from traditional phone services. If not, you can find information in your terms and conditions or click here! Some quick important points:
  • Make sure your Emergency Calling Service address is the current physical address where you and your Lingo service reside. You can do this in the Edit Profile Section of your Lingo Online Account Management tool! (Note: If you can’t click on the “Update” button please contact Customer Care for help verifying your address.)
  • If you move your Lingo service, it can take up to 72 hours to update this address, so make sure you update it promptly.
  • If there is a power outage, both your broadband connection and you Lingo phone service connection will not work. (A little safety tip, always have your cellular phone charged in case of an emergency and if you have a landline make sure you have a non-cordless phone. Landline phones only work in power outages if they don’t require electricity.)
Coming at the end of July! Lingo will be sending you a mailing and email with important information to help ensure that you understand how Lingo's Emergency Calling Service works and that it is setup properly. Please take the time to review this information and follow all instructions provided.
