Retail Activation FAQ

What is a Lingo compatible router?
A Lingo compatible router is a home networking device that also has the special phone adapter features built into the equipment. In order to use a router with Lingo VoIP service it must be specially configured and have the appropriate software. Only routers that are in packaging specifically showing the Lingo brand are compatible with Lingo's VoIP service. If you are not sure, please contact the Lingo Sales department.
What specific routers are Lingo compatible?
The D-Link DVG-1402S/L VoIP router is the only router currently available for the Lingo service.
Where can I purchase a Lingo compatible router?
Lingo compatible routers are available at retail outlets around the United States. Contact Lingo Sales for additional information.
Can I make my existing router or home networking device Lingo compatible?
You can connect any router to a Lingo phone device or VoIP router. It is not possible to configure non-Lingo compatible routers with Lingo's VoIP technology to operate as the phone adapter for Lingo service.
What is the difference between a Lingo VoIP (Voice over IP) compatible router and the standard Lingo phone adapter?
In addition to enabling Lingo broadband phone service, the DVG-1402S/L VoIP router allows you to share your internet connection with up to four personal computers or network devices. It also features sophisticated firewall protection. Click here for complete product information from D-Link.
Should I choose a Lingo compatible router or the Lingo phone adapter?
The Lingo phone adapter is all you need to get started with VoIP service from Lingo. Sign up at Lingo.com for our regular service and receive a phone adapter. If you already have a home network, you can easily add either the standard phone adapter or Lingo compatible router into your existing setup. You may also choose to replace your current router with a Lingo compatible router so you only have one piece of equipment. If you don’t currently have a home router and have multiple computers in your home that you would like to network, then choose a Lingo compatible router.
I already have a Lingo compatible router, how do I get service?
Starting up with Lingo is easy. Just choose an internet calling plan that meets your needs, complete the simple online order process and you’ll be ready to make phone calls with your new VoIP account. Your VoIP service will be activated over the internet -- you won’t need to wait for any additional equipment.
What is the cost to sign up for Lingo?
Since you have already purchased a Lingo compatible router there are no activation or shipping fees to sign up for VoIP phone service. You only pay for the calling plan you choose. And with the first month’s subscription fee waived, you can try Lingo completely risk free. Even better, there is no contract and no cancellation fee.
Can I choose any Lingo plan?
